Griffith Stadium (2010-26)

Product Description

Griffith Stadium

Washington, D.C.

The year 1924 was very good for baseball in the nation's capital.  The Senators made their first appearance in the World Series a successful one, defeating the New York Giants in seven games.  Walter Johnson led the league in wins (23), stikeouts (158) and ERA 2.72, teammates Sam Rice with 216 hits and Goose Goslin with 129 RBI.  This appears to be the league championship banner being raised in center field at the beginning of the 1925 season.  A portion of the sizable bleachers is in the background.
