EDWARD D. DWYER STADIUM
2010-02
A town of 16,000 population, Batavia is located about midway between Buffalo and Rochester. The Muckdogs, named for the area's argriculturally-rich Elba muck land, are members of the New York-Penn League and play a short season schedule - June to September. This 2,600 seat "jewel of a ballpark" (as local fans call it) is named for the late Edward Dwyer, Geensee County's "Mr. Baseball" and long-time Batavia club president. At a cost of $3 million, the stadium was built in 1996, replacing a vintage WPA-funded facility that dated back to 1939. The franchise is community owned and operated.
