DODGER STADIUM
Home of the Los Angeles Dodgers since 1962
Jackie Robinson, Maury Wills, Don Drysdale and Sandy Koufax - images of former Dodgers that graced the ballpark during the 2008 season, the 50th anniversary of the franchise moving to Los Angeles. Teammate Duke Snider called Robinson, who played for the Dodgers from 1947-56, "the greatest competitor I've ever seen." Wills broke Ty Cobb's single-season stolen base record with 104 thefts in 1962, the same season Drysdale captured the Cy Young Award. Former Giants slugger Orlando Cepeda said, "The trick against Drysdale is to hit him before he hits you." For a time in the 1960s, Koufax was the most dominating pitcher in the majors, capturing five consecutive ERA titles. Pittsburgh all-star slugger Willie Stargell said trying to hit Koufax was "like trying to drink coffee with a fork."
