DELTA CENTER & SALT PALACE

MWP-SL359/SL229

"Rare view! The two arenas only stood together for a few months"

ENERGY SOLUTIONS ARENA: Utah Jazz (NBA) (1991-present) Utah Blaze (AFL) (2006-2008) Utah Starzz (WNBA) (1997-2002) Utah Grizzlies (IHL) (1995-1997) Salt Lake Golden Eagles (IHL) (1991-1994)

The EnergySolutions Arena is an indoor arena in Salt Lake City, Utah. The arena seats 19,911 for basketball, has 56 luxury suites, and 668 club seats. Opened in 1991, the arena was known as the Delta Center until EnergySolutions purchased the naming rights, effective November 20, 2006. The arena is the home of the NBA's Utah Jazz.

From 2006 to 2008, the arena was the home of the Arena Football League's Utah Blaze. It was also home to the figure skating and short track speed skating competitions of the 2002 Winter Olympics (during the Olympics, the arena was referred to as the Salt Lake Ice Center).

In addition to the Utah Jazz and Blaze, the arena has also been the home of the WNBA's Utah Starzz from 1997 to 2002, the Salt Lake Golden Eagles from 1991 to 1994, and the Utah Grizzlies from 1995 to 1997, both of the International Hockey League.

SALT PALACE: Utah Jazz (NBA) (1979-1991) Utah Stars (ABA) (1970-1975) Salt Lake Golden Eagles WHL (1969 to 1974) CHL (1974 to 1984) IHL (1984 to 1994)

The Salt Palace was an indoor arena in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was built on land that was once the "Little Tokyo" area of the city. Construction was pushed by Salt Lake's bid committe for the 1972 Winter Olympics. The Salt Palace was completed in 1969 at the cost of $17 million. The 10,725 seat arena, later expanded to 12,666 seats, was the home of the Utah Stars of the American Basketball Association from 1970 to 1975, the Salt Lake Golden Eagles hockey club from 1969 to 1991, and the Utah Jazz from 1979 to 1991. In 1994, three years after the Jazz moved into the Delta Center, the Salt Palace was demolished. A convention center of the same name stands on the site today.
