Product Description

TARGET FIELD

2010-13

For the first time since 1981, the Twins open their regular home season outdoors in 2010. Target Field is the team's third home ballpark since moving from Washington, D.C. to the Twin Cities in 1961. They played in Metropolitan Stadium for two decades, then The Metrodome for 29 seasons. The Twins sought to return outdoors, finally achieving that hurdle in 2006 by action of the state legislature. Unlike The Met, long gone from suburban Bloomington, Target Field is tucked more accessibly downtown. Also inlike its outdoor predesessor, areas of the new ballpark are heated, offering fans a retreat from the icy cold and wind that made for some legendary games at The Met.

Unused (3 1/2" x 5 1/2") postcard from a photo by Chris Nichol, Minneapolis, MN, March 2010. Metropolitan Field photo by Lewis Portnoy, 1979, Spectra-Action, Inc., St. Louis, MO..

Produced by Vic Pallos, Glendale, CA
