Mile High Stadium (2009-71)

Product Description

The Colorado Rockies played here in 1993-94 and drew more than 7.7 million fans, while Coors Field was being constructed close to downtown.  The three-tiered grandstands in left field, which rolled back for baseball and forward for football, measured 535 feet long, 135 feet tall and 200 feet deep - and weighed nine million pounds!  To re-position the grandstands, water was poured into runways underneath, forming a paper-thin sheet upon which the stands rested.  Hydraulic rams then pushed the stands along the runways at a rate of three feet per minute, completing a move in about two hours.  The Denver Broncos continued to play at Mile High Stadium until the end of the 2000 NFL season.  The stadium was demolished in 2002.
