Product Description

ESTADIO JOSE AMALFITANI

Buenos Aires, Argentina

WSPE-850

Estadio José Amalfitani (in English: José Amalfitani stadium) is a stadium located in the Liniers neighbourhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The venue is mainly used for football matches and is the home of the Argentine Primera División club Vélez Sársfield. The stadium is nicknamed El Fortín (in English: "The Small Fort") or El Fortín de Liniers ("The Small Fort of Liniers"). Alternatively, it is also called Vélez Sarsfield Stadium.

The stadium was built between 1941 and 1943 in wood, and rebuild in cement between 1947 and 1951. 27 years later, it was expanded in preparation for the 1978 FIFA World Cup. The José Amalfitani has capacity for 49,540 spectators, although it does not provide seating for all of them like most Argentine stadiums.

The Estadio José Amalfitani is also the national stadium for the Argentine rugby union national team (a.k.a. Los Pumas). Although the team plays test matches throughout the country, their highest-profile tests are usually held here.

Unused 4" x 6" continental size chrome.
