Redlegs vs. Yankees from Crosley Field's Sun Deck
Home of the Cinsinnati Reds, 1912-70
The third game of the 1939 World Series. Fans pack the Sun Deck in right field to cheer their Reds, who are trying to subdue the Yankees after losing the first two games in New York. Crosley Field had no warning track. Instead, a slope warned outfielders of the impending barrier. According to Reds historical data, the Sun Deck had 3,989 seats. They're all filled, and then some, on this day. Led by the hitting of Charlie Keller, Bill Dickey and Joe DiMaggio, the Yankees could not be derailed. They swept the Series in four games.
